TENNIS: Diman boys sweep singles in defeating SBR

Landon Begin's 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles sparked Diman Regional to a 4-1 boys' tennis win over Someerset Berkley Regional on Tuesday at Bristol Community College.

Angus Bonoan (6-1, 6-3) and Noah Jean (6-0, 6-3) completed the singles sweep.

Diman (3-3) won first doubles behind Tyler Tavares and Hilton Begin (6-0, 6-4).

SBR won second doubles 6-3, 6-3 behind Tom Goodwin and Jon Cabral.

Durfee 5, Brockton 0: At Brockton, the Hiltoppers (3-6, 2-0 league) remained undefeated in the Big 3 Conference, dropping just 11 games in the process.

Javier Beltran helped get things rolling with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at first singles.Junior captain Tom Panchley took care of business, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 and Baron Snizek rolled 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

At first doubles, Ben Menezes and Jack Matos won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, and freshman Chris Panchley and Nick Souza won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.

GIRLS' TENNIS

Somerset Berkley Regional 5, Diman 0: At Somerset, Jordan Ramos (6-2, 6-1 over Emily Moniz), Katie Ledwidge (6-1, 6-2 over Audrey Moniz) and Kaylin Gibbons (6-1, 6-1 over Shae Hayes) gave the Raiders (5-3, 5-2 for tournament purposes) the singles sweep.

In doubles, Isabel Charest/Jessica Salamone defeated Hannah Mello/Kiara Torres 6-0, 6-0, and Diana Andronic/Karoline Gajewski defeated Brenda Hickey/Alexis Medeiros 6-2, 6-1.

Durfee 3, Brockton 2: The Toppers swept the doubles matches as Catarina Pereira/Allyson Holding won 6-1, 7-6 (4) at No. 1, while Kyndra Carneiro and Jessy Heneine were second doubles winners (6-0, 6-4).

Amaya Travassos was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at third singles for Durfee (4-5, 2-0).
