Gurgaon: A corporate executive, who is two months pregnant, has filed a complaint of
domestic violence against her husband, an
IPS officer posted in Delhi.
The police officer has also filed a counter-complaint against his wife, alleging attack by her. According to Gurgaon police, no
FIR has been filed as they are still verifying the
allegations.
The woman, a resident of Meerut and now staying in Sector 61, is an employee of a prominent real estate consultant company which has its office in DLF 2.
She got married to the IPS officer in November 2015. According to her, she started facing harassment from her parents-in-law over
dowry soon after her marriage.
At the time of their marriage, the IPS officer was posted in Dimapur. She decided to return to Gurgaon and join the work after being ill-treated repeatedly by the parents-in-law, according to the complaint. Around three months ago, the woman shifted to a home in Sector 61, and started living together with her husband after he got posted in Delhi.
On Tuesday, an altercation broke out between the two allegedly over the officer’s friendship with another woman.
“When I asked him about the woman, he beat me up, locked me up inside a room, snatched my mobile phone and switched it off,” the complainant told police.
“When my husband went to the toilet, I somehow managed to escape and reached the home of a friend who is living in the same society,” she alleged. The woman then called her parents, who reached Gurgaon on Wednesday, and approached police with the complaint. The police officer also filed a counter-complaint, alleging that he was attacked by his wife who “hurled some household items” at him, during which he suffered injuries.
He also alleged that he received a threat call from his sister-in-law. “We have received complaints from both the parties. Both of them have levelled allegations against each other. As it is a case of fight between husband and wife, police are in touch with both the parties and their family members. An appropriate action will be taken only after verification of facts,” said DCP (south) Himanshu Garg.
