Silver medalist of Asian boxing c’ship honoured

Ludhiana: Simranjit Kaur, the silver medalist of Asian Boxing Championship, which recently concluded in Bangkok, Thailand, was welcomed after arriving in the city on Wednesday.
Simranjit Kaur was welcomed by the district administration during a function organised in Guru Nanak Stadium, in which a large number of residents of Chakar, Lakha, Hathur, Manuke and other villages were also present. Talking at her facilitation ceremony, she said her main aim in life is to win a gold medal in Olympics. A resident of Chakar village of Ludhiana district, Simranjit Kaur, was welcomed by the district administration. She completed her initial training from Sher-E-Punjab Academy at Chakar village, near Jagraon. Simranjit is currently training at Punjab Institute of Sports, Mohali, and is a student of BA-II at Punjabi University, Patiala.

Speaking on the occasion, she said she is working hard to fulfil the dreams of her late father Kamaljit Singh and mother Rajpal Kaur.She said Sher-E-Punjab Academy has played a pivotal role in her success and also thanked the Indian team coach Rafello Brnasco and Ali Qamar.
She was honoured in the presence of district sports officer Ravinder Singh, Olympian Surjit Sports Association, Kotla Shahia (Batala) chairman Prof Gurbhajan Gill and legal advisor Harpreet Sandhu. She was also presented a Phulkari on the occasion.
