Panchayat official assaulted for removing flex

Mangaluru: A village panchayat official was assaulted by a man belonging to a right-wing organisation, when he went to remove flexes and banners at Peruvai in Vittal on Thursday.
According to police, village panchayat official Duggappa is the victim, and is being treated at a hospital. As the election model code of conduct is in force, Dugappa had gone to remove flex banners erected near Badiyar Cross, during which Bajrang Dal leader Yatish, a resident Peruvai, who saw Dugappa removing a flex, abused him and later manhandled him.
A case has been registered at the Vittal police station in this regard.
