Manish Pandey pulled off an incredible six to help Sunrisers Hyderabad tie the game against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on Thursday and take the match into a Super Over. While chasing 163, the Sunrisers Hyderabad needed seven runs off the last ball to win. Hardik Pandya delivered a length ball and Pandey dispatched the ball over the mid-wicket boundary. However, when Pandey came out to bat in the Super Over, he made a big mistake. He struck the first ball from Jasprit Bumrah towards the point region, Krunal Pandya ran in and fumbled the ball. The all-rounder noticed that Pandey is trying to sneak a second run as he threw the ball to Quinton de Kock. The wicket-keeper took off the bails with Pandey miles away from the crease. Pandey was the only SRH batsman, who confidently played his strokes throughout the innings and he was left walking back to the pavilion early on in SRH’s one-over eliminator.

Thereafter, Mohammad Nabi hit a six off the third ball, but was bowled out in the very next ball, which meant that SRH could manage only eight runs in the Super Over. Hardik Pandya sealed the deal when he smashed Rashid Khan for a six in the first ball of Mumbai Indians’ super over. Two deliveries later, Kieron Pollard hit the winning runs for Mumbai. The home side clinched a thrilling victory and a spot in the playoffs.

The Man of the Match Jasprit Bumrah said at the presentation that he thinks about one ball at a time in pressure situations.

“Sometimes the mind can get too negative, but I would like to focus on the ball which I have to bowl and try to keep clarity. If you are clear about the ball you are going to execute and you set the field accordingly and try to keep it as simple as possible. There’s always pressure but I think what does the team require of me, so I’m just thinking one ball at a time and what I have to do on that particular ball. We always talk as we have faced a lot of pressure situations and they (seniors) try to guide us. In the end, it’s your own decision because if you back your own decision that’s the best way to go and going forward backing yourself always helps,” said Bumrah.
