The City police have submitted to the Vigilance Enquiry Commissioner and Special Judge, Kozhikode, the video footage of the controversial sting operation allegedly involving M.K. Raghavan, who was the United Democratic Front candidate in the Kozhikode Lok Sabha constituency.
This was in connection with a case registered by the Nadakkavu police against Mr. Raghavan under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Earlier, State Police Chief Loknath Behera had instructed A.V. George, District Police Chief, to register a case based on a complaint lodged by P.A. Mohamed Riyas, campaign committee secretary for A. Pradeep Kumar, the Left Democratic Front candidate.
Another affidavit
Investigators said another affidavit would be filed in the court for carrying out a detailed forensic examination of the visuals.
The visuals purportedly showed Mr. Raghavan seeking a kickback to purchase land to set up a hotel in Kozhikode city when reporters of TV9 Bharatvarsh, a Hindi news channel, approached him. Mr. Raghavan, terming the video as fake to tarnish his image, had sought a probe into the episode. He had said that his voice had been dubbed in the video.
