Nomination papers of 23 accepted, 5 rejected

Ludhiana: The nomination papers of the candidates contesting from Ludhaiana parliamentary constituency were scrutinized by the electoral officials on Tuesday. The officials while accepting 23 papers rejected the nominations of five candidates. District election officer cum deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said, “The nominations papers of those candidates whose nominations have been rejected include Lal Chand Rao, Anupama (had filed two nominations), Amanjot Kaur (had filed two nominations), Hitesh Inder Singh and Rajinder Kumar Goyal.” Meanwhile the names of candidates from recognised national and state political parties whose nomination papers have been accepted are Sukhwinder Singh from Nationalist Congress Party, Tej Pal Singh from Aam Aadmi Party, Mahesh Inder Singh from Shiromani Akali Dal and Ravneet Singh from Indian National Congress party”
Agrawal added, “The names of candidates of registered political parties whose nomination papers have been found valid are Amarjit Singh from Bharatiya Lok Seva Dal, Simarjeet Singh from Lok Insaf Party, Darshan Singh from Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Party, Daljit Singh from Peoples Party of India (Secular), Davinder Bhagria from Hindustan Shakti Sena, Dildar Singh from Ambedkarite Party of India, Pardeep Singh from Samaj Adhikar Kalyan Party, Baljit Singh from Bharat Prabhat Party, Baldev Raj Katna from Nationalist Justice Party, Brijesh Kumar from Peoples Party of India (Democratic), Bintu Kumar Taank from Ambedkar National Congress, Mohd Naseem Ansari from Rashtriya Sahara Party, Rajinder Kumar from Hindu Samaj Party and Ram Singh Daepak from Bahujan Mukti Party” Besides this, the independent candidates whose nomination papers have been found valid are Surinder Kaur, Jasdeep Singh, Jai Parkash Jain, Mahinder Singh and Ravinder Pal Singh. Agrawal also informed that the last date of withdrawal of candidature would be on May 2 before 3 pm. The nomination papers can be withdrawn by the candidate or the proposer. The polling is slated for May 19.
