Gurgaon: A city resident was cheated of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of getting his credit card limit enhanced by a woman, who posed as a bank employee.
According to Vivek Pandey, a resident of Sector 85, he received a call around 3.16pm on April 22 from a woman, who claimed to be calling up on behalf of State Bank of India. “She shared a few details about the offers that the bank was offering to existing credit card customers and asked me if I was interested in enhancing the limit of my card,” Pandey told the police.
The woman asked him to share the number mentioned on his credit card and then asked him to share the one time password (OTP) sent to his registered mobile number. Within seconds, he received a message informing him that Rs 1.05 lakh had been transferred from his account and the phone got disconnected, police said. Following investigations, an
