This was evident at the second Oman-China Tourism Forum organized by the Oman-China Friendship Association, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) and Oman Air and other institutions at the Oasis Club.
The concluding ceremony was held under the auspices of H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism. The forum was an effort to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the people of Oman and China.
The second Oman-China Tourism Forum displayed wonderful tourism cooperation between Oman and China to attract more visitors from the Chinese market, which is considered the biggest in the world.
MoT is working to strengthen its presence in the Chinese tourism market via several initiatives. Speaking on the occasion, Lujaina Mohsin Darwish, member of the State Council and chairperson of the Oman-China Friendship Association, said that the relations between Oman and China have seen remarkable growth in political, economic, cultural, tourism and other areas. She said that the association in cooperation with MoT and Oman Air is making Chinese tourists aware to make Oman their preferred destination.
She said that Oman-China trade reached US$19.5bn in 2018. China is the top importer of Omani oil.
Salim bin Aday al Mamari, the director general of tourism promotion in MoT said, “This growth in Chinese tourist number is due to efforts made by MoT to promote Oman in the Chinese market.”
H E Li Lingbing, Ambassador of China to Oman said that Oman and China have a historic relationship which has grown in many areas.
22 major Chinese tourism companies took part in the second Omani-Chinese Tourism Forum, which is a positive sign for the promotion of Oman in China.
