40-year-old confronts ‘friend’ who molested his daughter, is killed
On Sunday night, the electrician’s wife told him that their daughter was disturbed because of some issue. The couple consoled their daughter, after which she told them about having been molested.
delhi Updated: May 01, 2019 05:31 ISTA 40-year-old electrician was killed after being allegedly pushed off the terrace of a five-storey building in central Delhi near Jama Masjid area, allegedly by his 23-year-old friend during a scuffle on Monday, the police said. They said that the scuffle had broken out over the issue of the 23-year-old man, a contractor, allegedly molesting the electrician’s 11-year-old daughter.
Deputy commissioner of police (central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said the contractor fled the spot but was arrested from Kala Mahal area on Monday evening. “The contractor has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 of Indian Penal Code. He has also been charged for allegedly molesting a minor,” said Randhawa.
Police said the electrician lived with his wife, daughter and two sons – aged 8 and 4 years – in a rented room on the fifth floor of the building where the incident took place on Monday.
A police officer, associated with the case, said that the electrician and his family earlier lived in the contractor’s neighbourhood. The two men became friends because they were neighbours and cause the contractor helped him with work.
On Sunday night, the electrician’s wife told him that their daughter was disturbed because of some issue. The couple consoled their daughter, after which she told them about having been molested.
“The girl told her parents that the contractor had touched her inappropriately when she was alone at home a week ago. She also told them that he had molested her in the past as well,” the officer said.
The electrician got enraged, called the contractor and asked him to come to his house. Around 4 am, the contractor came to his house. The electrician took him to the terrace where an argument broke out.
“The contractor tried to flee. When the electrician tried to grab hold of him, the contractor pushed him because of which he lost his balance and fell from the terrace,” said the officer. Some neighbours rushed the electrician to Lok Nayak Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
