Fire destroyed some furniture, a computer and a few files at the Sivakasi Town branch of Punjab National Bank here on Wednesday morning.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Sivakasi rushed to the spot and put out the flames within 20 minutes. The police suspect that the fire could have been caused due to electrical short circuit.
O-lookers who noticed fire bellowing out of the bank building on the first floor alerted the fire brigade around 7.40 am. By the time, the fire tenders could reach, a bank employee arrived and the door was opened. The flames could destroy only one table and computer and a few files before it was put out.
