HYDERABAD: A man allegedly killed his wife and their two-year-old son at Auto Nagar in Vanasthalipuram in Telangana capital Hyderabad on Monday. The husband - a native of Bihar - is the prime suspect and is at large. The couple had an inter-religion marriage few years ago.
Vanasthalipuram police said that on Tuesday they received an alert from a house owner that in one of the portions given on rent, foul smell was coming.
When the police reached the spot and forcefully opened the door, they came across two bodies dumped inside a dry drum. When they brought the bodies out, it was of 25-year-old Kavita and her two-year-old son Mohammed Irfan. Kavita's husband Adib Alam, who is a labour who loads and unloads, has been missing.
Initially, the police did not find any injuries on the bodies and a case was registered under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPc. On Wednesday, during the post-mortem examination, police came to know that the victims were smothered to death.
When Kavita's parents were contacted, police came to know that five years ago Alam came to Hyderabad from Bihar in search of employment and four years ago, the couple tied the knot against the wishes of their respective family members.
Alam was last seen locally on Monday and he might have left the house after committing the double murder.
"The family members of Kavita alleged that since Alam's family members from the beginning have been against the marriage, Alam might have killed the two victims. However, at this point of time we cannot speculate the motive of the murder, until the accused is caught," Vanasthalipuram inspector A Venkataiah told TOI.
Based on the mobile phone location, the suspect was traced in Bihar and police teams are in lookout from Alam.
