Our tester was equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, good for 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

A 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is also available, as is a 1.6-liter turbo diesel.

A nine-speed automatic transmission mates with the larger 2.0-liter engine, putting the power down to the front wheels. 

Driver selectable all-wheel drive is available on the Equinox. 

Parking assist and rear-cross traffic alert as well as blind-spot monitoring are standard only on the top Premiere trim and available just on the LT trim below it.

Even in Premiere trim, you'll still have to shell out extra for lane departure warning with assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision alert with pedestrian braking and low-speed forward automatic braking. 

Chevrolet's Infotainment 3 system is clear and easy to understand, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a Wi-Fi hotspot standard.
