Former bankrupt, millionaire, medical entrepreneur and disgraced hitman-hiring doctor Geoffrey Edelsten will spend his 76th birthday limping around court.
Edelsten, who in 1985 became the first private owner of an AFL football team - the Sydney Swans - will hobble into the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Thursday to contest a $3600 fine.
Coincidentally, his ex-wife Brynne Gordon was seen leaving the same court on Wednesday where her ex-husband is scheduled to appear.

Ms Gordon told Daily Mail Australia she was in court supporting a friend and was amused to hear her ex was in more trouble.
'Oh my God, how funny,' she said. 'He's always got trouble one way or the other right.'
The former Californian fitness instructor said she had mistakenly gone to the Federal Court down the road before realising she was in the wrong building.
'It was funny because when I got there - I've never been in court for anything really - so I like automatically went to the divorce court,' she said. 'I thought, hang on this is the wrong place.'
Ms Gordon said she attended court to support a friend who had gotten himself into 'some trouble'.
'I didn't want him to be alone,' she said. 'Unfortunately it was nothing exciting ... I would have stood up a little straighter had I known someone was going to take my photo.'
Edlesten, who prefers to be referred to as Doctor, or even professor, was once married to Ms Gordon and high-flying former prostitute Gabi Grecko.

The elderly former crook, who was jailed in 1990 for perverting the course of justice and soliciting Christopher 'Mr Rent-a-Kill' Dale Flannery to assault a former patient, told Daily Mail Australia the fine was worth contesting.
Edlesten said he would attend court despite injuring his ankle in a fall outside his office after he tripped on a step.
'I'm actually in bed at the moment. My ankle is swollen,' he said.

Edelsten said he had been 'held up' by a policeman who alleged his car wasn't registered.
'We found out that VicRoads had the wrong address that they were sending the reminder to and we're contesting that,' he said.
When told that the cost of engaging a lawyer would likely cost more than any fine, Edelsten said he was dealing with the matter mostly by himself.
'My lawyers think that it should be thrown out ... I'm a lawyer by training and it won't cost me that much,' he said. 'Well, I'm doing part of it myself but the fine is in fact - it's registered in a company name - is $3600, so it's worth contesting and I'm not guilty and should have it thrown out.'
In his prime, Edelsten owned mansions, helicopters, and a fleet of Rolls-Royces and Lamborghinis with license plates such as Macho, Spunky and Sexy.
He was deregistered as a doctor in New South Wales in 1988 and later in Victoria.

In January 2014, it was announced that Edelsten's marriage to Ms Gordon was over. She cited 'her publicity-obsessed husband for a reported dalliance with another woman more than 18 months ago'.
A little over a year layer he married Gabi Grecko but split just months later.
Grecko later went on to reveal she had in fact been a high-end prostitute who was involved in a mile-high sex scandal involving New York police officers.
Edelsten said he was happy to attend court tomorrow on his birthday despite his recent injury.
'With crutches I'll be right. Although my lawyer doesn't think that I'm required. I think it's going to be adjourned,' he said.
"It's my birthday tomorrow ... I'm going to be 21,' Edelsten joked.
Ms Gordon said she was not surprised Edelsten planned to fight the infringement.
'Of course he's going to contest. Who would he be if he didn't. He just loves it,' she said.
