Bhopal: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by an acquaintance of her Bua (paternal aunt) on Tuesday. The body was recovered on Wednesday. Police arrested one person in this connection. The incident occurred at a picnic spot under Koh-e- Fiza police station here on Tuesday evening. The victim and her 16- year-old Bua were school students and minors. ASP Manu Vyas said the victim along with her Bua and latter’s two friends— Justin and Avinsah Sahu— had gone to Tekri on two bikes on Tuesday at 3 pm. They were captured in a CCTV camera of the area.
At around 6 pm, they returned but without the girl. Later, the Bua told the girl’s parents that she had gone missing at Tekri. The victim’s parents reported the matter to Koh-e-Fiza police. The police reached the spot and tried to find the girl but called off their search operation as it turned dark. However, the girl’s kin kept searching for her. Meanwhile, Justin and Avinash too reached there on the pretext of searching the girl. The girl’s parents persistently quizzed the boys about the girl and in the process they realised that Avinash was lying. The girl’s parents then caught hold of Avinash and handed him over to the police.
They alleged that the police still did not take seriously the information they had shared with them about Avinash. During their search on Wednesday morning, the police found the girl’s body in a pool of blood in one of the caves near Tekri. The body was sent to Hamidia Hospital for post-mortem. The ASP further said that the police had arrested Avinash in the case. He added that the girl’s Bua was his friend. Avinash took the victim down towards the cave and raped her. According to the police, he was afraid that the girl may tell others about her ordeal. So he smashed her head with a stone and covered her body with stones, the police added.
