Tributes have poured in for a young tradesman who died suddenly after collapsing during a football training session.

Talented young sports star Lachlan Hernaman, 20, was training with his teammates at Harvey Bulls football club on Tuesday evening when he fell ill. 

The plumber, who was known as Lockie and lived in Harvey in Western Australia, was rushed to a local hospital but sadly passed away.

Harvey Bulls confirmed on social media that Lachlan tragically died after the training session.

The club said that it is 'deeply saddened' by the sudden death of the young player and is working on offering counselling to those who were close to Lachlan.

They shared on their Facebook page: ‘Harvey Bulls Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of player Lachlan "Lockie" Hernaman, 20, who collapsed suddenly at a training session last night.

‘The Club offers its deepest condolences and sympathies to Lockie’s family, friends and teammates and is working with the West Australian Country Football League and West Australian Football Commission to offer support and counselling services.'

The Harvey Bulls will meet tonight discuss whether their game against Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault will go ahead this Saturday.

The club said: ‘A decision on whether our game will go ahead this weekend will be communicated as soon as possible.’

Tributes to the young tradesman have flooded in on social media

One football fan said that Lachlan will be 'sadly missed'.

She wrote: 'Condolences to Mel ,Kailee and Family, and also to all the Bulls, being a part of the bulls for so long I took great pleasure in watching all them little juniors grow into men. Lockie will be very sadly missed, RIP Lockie xxx.'

Another commented: 'Deepest Condolences to the Hernaman family, friends the Harvey Bulls football Club. Our thoughts are with you during this tragic time.'

According to The West Australian, Lachlan was brought to Harvey Hospital at approximately 7pm after taking ill at the training session.

However it is understood that he never regained consciousness. 

Police confirmed that they are not treating Lachlan's death as suspicious.

A report is will be sent for the coroner. 

Friends also shared their tributes to the 20-year-old, who was described as 'the most genuine and kind hearted person', on his own Facebook page.

One friend said:  'You will be truly missed man and I’m gonna miss that massive smile you had.'
