Lok Sabha Elections 2019: AAP didn’t fulfil 67 poll promises, claims BJP lawmaker

lok sabha elections Updated: May 01, 2019 11:01 ISTBJP Rajya Sabha member Vinay Sahasrabudhhe on Tuesday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has failed to deliver on 67 out of 70 promises it had made during the Delhi assembly elections in 2015.
He said that the AAP is making full statehood its key poll plank in the Lok Sabha elections for Delhi just to hide its failures.
Despite multiple attempts, AAP spokesperson could not be reached for a comment.
Sahasrabudhhe said this while releasing a status report on the implementation of the AAP’s 2015 manifesto prepared by the Public Policy Research Centre (PPRC), a BJP-affiliated think tank headed by him. He added that from education to curbing pollution, the AAP government has done little to address the problems faced by the people of Delhi.
Sahasrabuddhe said, “The AAP dispensation has failed to deliver on 67 out of the 70 promises it had made before the assembly elections. One of their key promises in 2015 elections was to bring Janlokpal Bill, which is now in doldrums. They are now talking about getting full statehood for Delhi. This is nothing but an attempt to hide their failures.”
As per the report, while the AAP had promised to build 500 schools, work on only 5% (27) has started so far.
“The promise of starting 20 new degree colleges is yet to be delivered,” said Sumeet Bhasin, director of PPRC.
Women’s security was yet another issue raised by the AAP in 2015. The party had promised to install CCTV cameras and provide marshals in buses.
“Till date, the ruling party has not installed CCTVs in public spaces and buses. The government has done little to make women feel safe in the city. It’s been four-and-a-half years, the promise of providing wi-fi is still a distant dream,” said Virendra Sachdeva, co-researchers and member national BJP’s good governance team.
In the last four years, air pollution has become a serious concern in the city.
“The Delhi government has little to bring down air pollution. It was fined Rs 25 crore by the National Green Tribunal for its failure to take measures to curb pollution in the city,” said Sachdeva.
