  • Drone enthusiast captures moment massive Great White Shark swims off shore
  • At one stage the shark was only 20 metres from an oblivious swimmer at Bondi
  • The shark is filmed savaging and then devouring what looks to be a large tuna

A two-metre great white shark has been filmed devouring a tuna just 20 metres from swimmers at Bondi Beach.

Jason Iggleden, creator of Drone Shark App, spotted the shark on Wednesday morning, 9 News reported.

As soon as he saw the two-metre shark savage a tuna just 20 metres from swimmers he immediately warned life guards who cleared the beach and then used a boat to scare the shark away from the beach.

'It came up from the bottom, as you can see from the footage, and has hit what I think is a tuna,' he said.

'On a couple of occasions now over the last year we have potentially saved a couple of lives and that's all I want out of all this.'

Mr Iggleden flies drones above beaches in Sydney and uploads the footage to his app, allowing surfers to see where the dangers are.

More than one third of shark attacks annually can be attributed to the great white shark which can weigh up to 3,000 kilograms.

There were 23 shark attacks in 2018 across Australia, a rise from the 18 in 2017, according to the Australian Shark Attack File, Taronga Conservation Society Australia.

Aussies are advised to minimise their chances of encountering a shark at the beach by avoiding swimming at dawn and dusk, at river mouths or in murky, discoloured waters.
