At least two people were killed and four wounded when a shooter opened fire at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Tuesday, according to EMS services.
Local media reported that a suspect believed to be a student at the school was taken into custody.
Charlotte station WBTV reported that gunfire erupted at about 5:45 p.m.

The local EMS agency said that two of the four wounded have life-threatening injuries.

And said the school is in lockdown with buildings being swept by law enforcement.
According to its website, UNC Charlotte enrolls more than 26,500 students and employs 3,000 faculty and staff.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has been briefed and is monitoring the situation.
