JEE (mains): City’s Shrey in top 50

Ludhiana: Son of a doctor couple, Shrey Singla of Sector 32, Chandigarh Road, Jamalpur, has topped the city in the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) with an all-India rank (AIR) of 49.
The JEE results announced late on Monday evening.
Uday Singla from Barewal was second in Ludhiana with AIR-122. While Shrey scored 100 percentile, Uday scored 99.99 percentile.
Successful candidates will gain admission to premier engineering institutions of India, including IITs and NITs.
A student of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Shrey wants to pursue computer science from IIT Bombay. Fond of playing cricket and reading fiction, Shrey later aims to take up research in computer science.
Talking his success mantra, Shrey said concentration was the key to his success. “I used to study daily for around eight hours and would concentrate on the subject that I would choose for the day,” he said.
He also acknowledged the role of coaching centres in enhancing his performance. He said that studying as per a schedule and a bit of planning provided him an edge. Shrey’s mother Anju Singla said he is a self-motivated person, who sets his own goals and works towards them. She said that he stayed away from smart phones.
Uday Singla, a student of Alpine International School, Barewal Road, too was excited with the results. He said hard work was the only way to success. He wants to become an engineer and wants to pursue graduation from IIT Delhi. He had cleared level 1 of Chemistry Olympiads.

Gunsagar, a student of GNIPS Model Town, secured AIR-755.
Now, students are preparing for JEE advanced exam to be held on May 27.
