The victim, J Nandakumar (37) of Ullagaram, an MBA graduate and a private firm employee, bought a plot measuring 1,194 sq ft at Ram Nagar in Madipakkam last year and started constructing a house with proper approval from all government departments 

concerned. 

On April 13, a group of eight men reportedly reached the construction site in a car and threatened the workers claiming that the land belonged to gangster CD Mani and that they would not allow any construction.

After the workers informed Nandakumar, he rushed to the spot. Among the eight men, two were identified as Preshnev and Gold Kannan. They both, claiming to be advocates, told Nandakumar that the land is owned by CD Mani. Nandakumar explained to them that a private bank has approved housing loan for him as the documents were clear and asked them to produce documents to prove their claim. The duo said that they could get documents ready within an hour. They also threatened him to stall the construction work.

Meanwhile, a police patrol team reached the spot on information but left after asking both parties to come to the police station. Later, the duo threatened Nandakumar that he would be murdered and demanded Rs 10 lakh to allow him to continue with the work. After local residents informed him that the men belong to the larger gangster network led by CD Mani, Nandakumar lodged a complaint with Assistant Commissioner H Gangairaj. 

An FIR has been registered and a hunt has been launched to nab the absconding suspects - Gold Kannan and Preshnev. When contacted, police said that they were yet arrest the suspects. 

2 held for forging documents 

The Central Crime Branch police arrested two men for allegedly grabbing a land from its owner using forged documents. The accused have been identified as CH VKS Kumar (47) of Hyderabad and V Hari (48) of Jafferkhanpet. The duo allegedly forged the documents to transfer the ownership of 3,160 sq ft land in Nandambakkam worth Rs 4 crore. It belongs to N Srinivasamurthy (62) of Hyderabad. 

Based on his complaint, the CCB registered a case and arrested the two men after investigation. They were remanded in judicial custody.
