Nissan 370Z Roadster Gets The Axe As Company Focuses On The Coupe

Nissan recently revealed pricing for the 2020 370Z Coupe, but the 370Z Roadster was notably absent from that list.

Now we know why as Nissan has confirmed the 370Z Roadster is being discontinued. In a statement to Motor Authority, Nissan product communications specialist Kyle Torrens said the company “will not offer the Roadster variant for the current-generation Z beginning with model year 2020.”

Autoblog received a similar statement confirming there will be no 370Z Roadster for 2020 as “Nissan will focus on the sale of the 370Z Coupe, NISMO and 50th Anniversary Edition.” We’ve reached out to Nissan to clarity if this decision is just for the US market and we’ll update this post if / when we hear back. There’s no word on why the 370Z Roadster was dropped, but the decision can likely be attributed to slow sales. 370Z sales have been declining in the United States since 2015 and last year the company only managed to sell 3,468 units.

Nissan doesn’t break down coupe and convertible sales figures, but the 370Z Coupe was likely more popular with consumers as 2019 model started at $29,990. The Roadster, on the other hand, had a base price of $41,820 and was available exclusively with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Fans of the model can still pick one up as Autotrader shows there are at least 98 new 370Z Roadsters in the United States. People who do will find a familiar 3.7-liter V6 engine that produces 332 hp (248 kW / 337 PS) and 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) of torque.
