RANCHI: The body of an unidentified 22-year-old
girl with a bullet
wound on the head was found from a road leading to Dhurwa dam, a popular tourist spot, on Tuesday.
Officer in-charge of Dhurwa police station, Rajeev Kumar, said a morning walker spotted the body and alerted the police. "A team was rushed to the spot within 15 minutes after receiving a call around 5.15 am. The deceased was found in a pool of blood," Kumar said.
Hatia DSP Prabhat Ranjan Barwar said prima facie it looked like murder. "The victim had a gunshot wound on head. There is an entry mark of
bullet on the left side of face," he said. The body has been sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) for autopsy.
Kumar said the police have scanned reports of all missing persons in city to get clues about her identity. "A case of murder against unknown persons has been registered under Section 302 of IPC at Dhurwa police station. After identification, attempts will be made to track the next of kin of the victim," he added.
