Voter awareness for labourers today

Ludhiana: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 elections, the district administration would be organising a voter awareness function in all the vidhan sabha constituencies of the district on May 1marked as world labour day. The main aim of this function would be a part of the SVEEP activities and would aim to make people aware about getting registered as voters and importance of voting. Awareness functions regarding EVM, VVPAT machines and other election related activities would be organised from 8 am to 9 am.
Additional deputy Commissioner (Jagraon) cum nodal officer SVEEP activities Neeru Katyal Gupta informed that for educating the labourers about voting, a district level awareness function would be organised at Giaspura Park at 8 am onwards . Similarly, such functions would also be organised in labour sheds or labour chowks located in other constituencies on the same day.
She informed that during these functions, the labourers would be educated about various aspects of voting, besides the Election Commission of India has also kept a provision of special leave for exercising their right to vote. That is why, they must cast their vote. Gupta has urged all other officers in all constituencies to work hard to ensure maximum poll percentage in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Observers reach city
Meanwhile the general observers and police observers for Lok Sabha 2019 elections for Ludhiana Parliamentary Constituency have reached the city. The general observer, Vikas S Bhale, as well as police observer Santokh Chalke, have been appointed by ECI and they would keep a close watch on the election related activities of all candidates. District election officer cum deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that both the observers would keep a close watch on the activities of all the candidates contesting from Ludhiana . He said that voters can also contact general observer Bhale on 6239441544 and police observer Santokh Chalke on 6239667334 for complaints or any other information. Voters can meet them personally between 11 am to 12 noon.
