MUMBAI: Two days after a 27-year-old married
woman was found dead with her
throat slit in her
Virar home, her alleged
paramour, the prime suspect, has been detained.
Mayuri More’s body was discovered at her Vaishnavi Apartment flat in Sainath Nagar, Virar (East), by her husband Mahesh when he returned home from work on Sunday night.
Virar police concluded that since there was no forced entry into the flat, the suspect might have been someone known to the victim. They learnt that she was involved with one of her colleagues and picked him up for questioning. While the 30-year-old man reportedly confessed to the murder on Tuesday, police are yet to arrest him in the case.
More and her paramour worked for an imitation jewellery factory in Borivli. Recently, though, she had learnt that he was two-timing her with a female colleague of theirs.
On Sunday, after her husband left for work, she invited him home and confronted him about it. He allegedly admitted to it and told Mayuri he could not stop seeing either of the two. Police said the the victim then slapped him, following which he picked up a kitchen knife and
slit her throat. He left her flat with the knife. Her body lay in the room till her husband, who was unaware of the relationship, got home.
