I usually begin my day at 3 am every day and reach the autorickshaw stand near Tambaram railway station. I started driving auto after I was married at age 20. Earlier, I used to work for a private school near my house as an auto driver. Now, I take passengers from railway station. I wanted to support my family and as I was not educated, I started driving auto. This is my only source of income. I earn around Rs 1,000 every day. A few months ago, my earnings started to decrease due to mobile-based cab service. After that, I learnt how to use them and joined one of cab aggregators. Since then, my business has improved as I am able to find more customers. I have two children – a son and a daughter. Both of them are engineering college students. I hope they get a good job. I make sure that I pick up passengers in case they are in some emergency. I meet different kinds of people every day as the locality has residents and students from all across the country and that is what I like the most about my work.
