50-yr-old man gets life term for raping five-year-old girl

Surat: A 50-year-old man was convicted of rape and sexual assault on a five-year-old girl and sentenced to life imprisonment until his last breath by a court here on Tuesday. He had raped the minor girl twice in the bushes behind C R Patil Nagar under the limits of Sachin GIDC police station on January 14, 2017.
The rape survivor, who suffered serious injuries on her private parts, had to undergo multiple operations. She received over 23 stitches as her intestine had got badly ruptured during the sexual assault by Rakesh alias Rakesh Master Prajapati. He was convicted of sexual assault, rape and unnatural sex under various sections of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The convict was also fined Rs50,000 by the court.
“The court took into consideration the age of rape survivor, who just five-year-old, while giving judgment in the case. The convict was 48-years-old when he committed the crime against the daughter of his close friend. The rape survivor knew him and trusted him,” said Kishore Revaliya, additional public prosecutor.
The convict is married and is father of a 24-year-old son and an 18-year-old daughter.
It was Uttarayan that day and the girl had gone to a nearby pan shop along with her father. Prajapati had gone to his friend’s house and on not finding them there, he arrived at the pan shop. He asked his friend’s permission to take the girl for a ride on his motorcycle. He bought a few chocolates for her from a shop and then took her into the bushes behind C R Patil Nagar near Laxmi Villa township.
He raped her twice and also had unnatural sex with her. She suffered grievous injuries but he threatened to kill her if she complained to anyone about him. He then left her home but she continued to cry. Her mother found her bleeding from private parts. The girl’s parents took her to a hospital where the doctors confirmed that she had been raped. The girl’s parents lodged police complaint against Prajapati, who was soon nabbed.
