HYDERABAD: The
Telangana high court on Tuesday posted the
Congress plea questioning the alleged attempts to merge Telangana
Congress Legislature Party with TRS legislative wing to June 11.
The plea was filed by Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy. The bench of Acting Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A Rajasheker Reddy assured the Congress counsel Jandhyala Ravi Shankar that it has powers to undo the damage if the merger is done in the meantime and if the same is found to be illegal. The state counsel said that there is no urgency to take up this matter.
"They merged the Congress party legislative wing at Telangana legislative council in an unlawful manner without even looking at our pleas that are seeking disqualification of the defected MLCs. Now they are about to do the same with our MLAs," the counsel said. The bench said that even if the authorities resort to such a step and if the same is found to be illegal we can restore your status and declare all such MLAs as belonging to their parent party, the bench said and adjourned the matter.
