Udhagamandalam: The five-day annual flower show at the Government Botanical Garden (GBG) will be inaugurated by governor Banwarilal Purohit on May 17.
Due to the model code of conduct, shows of spices, vegetables and roses would not be held this summer season. However, given the long tradition, the flower show -123rd edition - and the fruit show -61st edition - will be held in Ooty and Coonoor respectively.
To mark the occasion of inaugural of the tourist summer season and to welcome the tourists, a flag hoisting ceremony will be organized by the Nilgiris district administration at the GBG on Wednesday (May 1).
Collector J Innocent Divya urged the tourists not to bring in banned plastics to the hills. tnn
