Orders for milk, dairy products, and other food items can be placed via AM Needs

The winds of change have finally reached Milma too. Inspired by the success of food delivery aggregators, Milma has decided to join the bandwagon by offering its products at the consumers’ doorsteps.

Come June 1, the public can afford to skip the daily trudge to the grocery for their milk and dairy needs.

Milma is all set to introduce a food delivery application, AM Needs, which will enable the consumers to place orders for milk, dairy products, and other food items through their smartphone.

The cooperative sector undertaking is channelising its resources to maximise its business through a dedicated online portal.

Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union chairman Kallada Ramesh said the facility would be launched in Thiruvananthapuram on June 1 and later extended to other parts of the State.

The products ordered through the facility would be delivered between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. on all days.

In the initial stages, the various milk variants and curd produced by Milma would be made available through the application, Mr. Ramesh said.

The food delivery facility is expected to provide employment to a large number of youths, besides ensuring an additional income for those currently part of the distribution network.

The orders would be coordinated from the nearest Milma Supper Shoppe and other outlets.

While the company intended to levy a service charge initially, it would be subsequently brought down once business gathered pace, Milma chairman P.A. Balan said.

Besides its flagship products, Milma will offer other items, including bread, idli and dosa batter, egg and half-cooked chapati, according to the AM Needs web portal.

Consumers will be offered various subscription schemes based on the number of deliveries or specific duration.
