Pass percentage among students who took the Class 10 examinations in the Nilgiris saw a slight increase this year to 96.27 % from 95.2 % last year.
Officials from the School Education Department said that of the 7,957 students who took the exams, 7,660 of them passed.
“Of the total, 3,998 of the girls who took the exam, around 98.30 %, passed,” said an official, adding that 94.14 % of the boys who appeared, or 3,662 of them, passed this year.
Government schools
Government school students from the Nilgiris also performed well this year. Across the district, a total of 2,755 students from 87 government schools appeared for the exams, out of whom, 2,538 students, or 92.12 % passed the exams.
Residential school
Students from the Government Tribal Residential School in Kunjapanai once again passed the exam with flying colours, with all 23 of the students who appeared for the exam passing.
Plus Two exam
The same school had also witnessed 100 % pass percentage among students who appeared for the Class 12 exams earlier this month.
Moreover, three of the four students from the Deaf and Dumb School in Udhagamandalam had also passed in the Class 10 exams, said Bright Joseph, Headmaster of the school.
“There are 19 students at the school, of whom four appeared for exams. We are extremely happy for all our students,” said Mr. Joseph.
