2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Time Capsule Has Been Driven Just 3,225 Miles

The fourth-generation Ford Mustang might not be popular with collectors, but Barrett-Jackson is selling this pristine 2004 Mach 1.

Looking like it just rolled off the assembly line, the car only has 3,225 miles (5,190 km) on the odometer and the company says it “defines the term ‘time capsule.’”

It’s hard to argue with that as the Mustang’s Competition Orange paint job appears flawless as do the hood and side stripes. This is likely due to several factors including the low mileage and the fact that the car has been kept in a climate-controlled garage since new.

The like-new feeling continues in the cabin as the interior is immaculate. The only signs of its age are some light creases on the leather seats and the dated styling.

Since the Mustang is one of 7,182 Mach 1s produced for 2004, it features a functional ram air hood and Magnum 500-style wheels. The car also has a specially-tuned suspension with unique anti-roll bars as well as Tokico struts and shocks. The model also has a reduced ride height and frame rail connectors to improve rigidity.

Since the Mach 1 was a performance model, it’s 4.6-liter V8 engine features high-flow cylinder heads, special cams and a sporty exhaust. These changes enable the mill to produce 305 hp (227 kW / 309 PS) and 320 lb-ft (433 Nm) of torque. In this particular model, the engine sends power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

The Mustang is being sold by the Barrett-Jackson Showroom in Scottsdale, Arizona and it can be yours for $29,900. That’s a lot of money for a 2004 model, but it isn’t too much more expensive than a 2019 Mustang EcoBoost.
