89.59 pc students pass HSSC exam in Goa

Around 89.59 per cent students passed the Higher School Certificate Examination (HSSC) conducted by the Board of and Higher Education, a said on Tuesday.

The board chairman, Ramakrishna Samant, while announcing the results here, said around four per cent more students passed this year than in 2018.

Nearly 17,000 students appeared in the examination.

"Of them 89.59 per cent passed against 85.84 per cent in 2018," Samant said.

Of the total students who appeared for exams in various subjects, 87.73 per cent passed in the arts stream, 91.86 per cent in commerce and 91.76 in science, he said.

The results showed that girls outshone boys with 91.97 per cent of females passing the examination against 86.91 per cent males.

Samant said the pass percentage was highest at Mapusa centre in North district and lowest at Sankhalim in the same district.

"Six higher secondary schools secured hundred per cent results and two had 99.07 per cent results," he said.
