Gunman on the loose after 'targeted' shooting in Melbourne's south-east
A gunman is on the loose after a man was shot and injured in what police suspect was a failed hit in Melbourne's south-east.
The victim was found with a gunshot wound to his lower body when emergency services arrived at a home on Fulham Close, Hampton Park, about 9.30am on Tuesday.
"The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined, however, it appears to be a targeted attack," a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
Ambulance Victoria said the man was in a serious but stable condition at The Alfred hospital.
The armed crime squad is investigating.
The incident follows the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Daniel O'Shea at Fawkner Park in South Yarra on Friday night.
Two guns, believed to be linked to that shooting, were found the next day by children playing nearby.
Mr O'Shea was the eighth man to be shot dead in as many weeks in Melbourne, though police said his death is not linked to others.
Charges have been laid in only three of the attacks.
