BASEBALL: Paul Poitras double helps Bishop Connolly down Westport; Diman stays perfect

Bishop Connolly 13, Westport 6: At Westport High School, Paul Poitras' three-run double highlighted the Cougars' Mayflower Athletic Conference Comprehensive Division win on Monday.

Ethan Medeiros pitched 5 2/3 innings for the victory. Connolly is 2-4.

For Westport, Conor Lecomte (2-for-4, double, 2 runs), Nick Yokel (1-for-2, 2 RBIs) and Nick Arruda (1-for-3, RBI, run) headed the attack.

Diman 16, Bristol-Plymouth 0 (5 innings): At John Pacheco Field in Fall River, Ryan Viveiros struck out eight in his four innings and the Bengals (7-0) remained undefeated.

Kyle Linhares was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Daniel Perron, Jr. was 1-for-2 with two walks, a sacrifice fly and three RBIs.

Apponequet 5, Case 4: At Lakeville, Case pitcher Bradley Dellicker allowed just one earned run in 6 1/3 innings of this South Coast Conference loss.

The Lakers broke a 4-4 tie with a walkoff RBI hit in the seventh.

Offensively for Case (1-7), Cole Escobar was 2-for-4, Dylan Thiboutot was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Nick Gerling knocked in a run.

Five of Case's seven losses have been by one run.

Falmouth 6, Bishop Stang 5: At Falmouth, the Spartans (6-3) committed nine errors, the ninth giving the Clippers the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Stang starting pitcher Hayden Duke struck out 10 and allowed just three hits and no earned runs in six innings. All six Falmouth runs were unearned.

Duke (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Frankie Manon (3-for-4, run), Connor Walsh (2-for-4) and Luke Bala (2-for-4) were Stang's top hitters.

Greater New Bedford 16, Somerset Berkley Regional 1 (5 innings): At New Bedford, winning pitcher Shane Poitras went 2-for-4 and Ethan Perry was 4-for-4 with three doubles for the Bears in this South Coast Conference game.

GNB led 6-0 after one inning and 9-1 after two.
