Press Trust of India  |  Darbhanga

JD(U) MLA on Tuesday resigned from the membership of the legislative assembly for being sidelined during campaigning in and constituencies.

Gami asserted that he will not quit the party or join any other but continue to work in it as he has full faith in his party and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who, he said, has been working tirelessly for the development of with the help of the NDA government at the Centre.

Gami, a two-term MLA from Hayaghat assembly constituency in district, said I am deeply pained as the party did not utilise my services either in or Lok Sabha constituencies. Hence I have decided to resign from the assembly.

"I have sent my resignation letter to my party Nitish Kumar, he said.

Since I did not want to disturb the alliance (NDA) as I want Narendra Modi jee's government to return for the development of the country and So I kept quite till April 29, the day polling was held for and Darbhanga constituencies, he said.

Gami said he had decided to speak out after the polling as he had to explain before the people of Hayaghat why he was not seen or was active during the campaigning in the constituency.

Hayaghat assembly constituency is in Darbhanga district but forms part of Samastipur constituency from where brother is contesting the as the NDA candidate.

Gami said that his services were neither utilized neither in Samastipur nor in Darbhanga despite the fact that he has sizeable hold in both Hayaghat and Darbhanga town.

I informed about myself being sidelined during the campaigning to my leader Nitish jee but he rightly chose to remain silent in order to follow coalition dharma as both seats (Samastipur and Darbhanga) belonged to NDA constituents and not that of JD(U), he said.
