  • A humble Australian-made snag was crowned the 'world's best sausage'
  • The creation was made by team of elite butchers dubbed The Australian Steelers
  • Foodies can snag a piece of the winning sausage at their nearest butcher store
  • The 'Pork Truffle and Provolone Cheese' sausages are sold across the country

With its flavoursome pork, truffle and provolone cheese, it's no wonder this humble Australian-made snag was crowned the 'world's best sausage'.

The delicious creation was made by a team of elite butchers called 'The Australian Steelers' who took out the coveted title in the World Butchers' Challenge in Belfast Ireland in 2018.

And foodies can now snag a piece of the winning 'Pork Truffle and Provolone Cheese' sausage for about $10.50 per kilo at their nearest butcher store located in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Cairns.

Since the awards, the sales of the sausages at Sydney's Macquarie Centre store have reportedly sold five times the usual amount.

And it's not hard to see why the humble snags are a crowd pleaser.

The team's captain Adam Stratton, who's the co-owner of the Tender Gourmet Butchery, said the pork sausages contain a creamy texture of the provolone cheese.

'The texture of meat has a bit of a mushroom taste and it’s nice and soft,' he previously told Wentworth Courier.

As for the secret ingredients?

'What exactly we put into our world beating sausages … well, that will always remain a mystery. I'm like Colonel Sanders with his 11 secret herbs and spices. The recipe will always remain under cover,' Mr Stratton told Food Service News.
