The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance will emerge victorious in the upcoming by-elections to four Assembly constituencies, a survey by an organisation, Cultural and Communication Centre, has predicted.
Presenting the findings of the survey, C. Thirunavukarasu, coordinator of the organisation, said that anti-incumbency against both the Centre and State government was palpable among the public in the four constituencies. “People also feel that the MLAs were disqualified in an unfair manner,” he said.
Tirupparankundram, Sulur, Aravakkurichi and Ottapidaram constituencies are facing by-elections on May 19. According to the organisation, the survey findings were based on interviews done with a total of 846 persons across the four constituencies. “We did not have a written questionnaire. The interviews were done through conversations,” he said.
Mr. Thirunavukkarasu said the organisation had predicted that the Secular Progressive Alliance would win in 33 constituencies in the parliamentary elections. “In the survey results we released on April 5, we predicted 33 seats for the alliance. Post-polling, we are increasing it by another two to three seats based on our findings,” he said.
