Karamadai BDO suspended for sexual harassment

Coimbatore: Collector K Rajamani on Sunday suspended a block development officer after sexual harassment charges were levelled against him.
BDO Ravichandran, who was working in Karamadai panchayat union, was deputed in one of the static surveillance teams formed during the recently-concluded parliamentary elections.
During the election work as well as in the past, Ravichandran allegedly harassed several women staff.
In their complaint, the staff told the collector that the 50-year-old man used to pass lewd comments and attempt to misbehave with them. He also used to harass noon meal scheme workers, they said.

After receiving the complaint, the collector ordered an investigation. The inquiry revealed that the complaints against Ravichandran were true.
Departmental action would also be initiated against him, official sources said.
