Gurugram man held for raping minor daughter

The police on Saturday arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly raping his nine-year-old daughter in Pataudi. The police said the girl, a student of Class 4, shared her ordeal with a caretaker on Saturday, following which the matter was reported.

According to the police, the girl divulged the details of the incident to a woman who often looked after her and gave her tuition classes after school in the neighbourhood. The police said that the girl alleged that her father had been raping her for “some time”.

Saroj, sub inspector (SI), women police station, Manesar, said the girl had been staying with her father since her mother died in 2016.

“The girl’s younger sister stays with her maternal grandmother. She confided in her caretaker. The girl was counselled by child welfare committee officials,” SI Saroj said.

The police said the girl’s medical examination was conducted and her statement was recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The suspect, who works as a labourer with a private company in Manesar, was arrested from his house in Pataudi.

SI Saroj said he was produced before a duty magistrate on Sunday and sent to judicial custody.

A case was registered against him under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Saturday, the police said.

On April 7, a man was arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter over a period of six months in the Sector 37.

The girl’s neighbour had called the police after the man fought with the girl and her mother in an inebriated condition. He had threatened the girl with dire consequences and asked her to not tell anyone.
