Alfa Romeo LEA Concept Perfectly Combines Retro And Modern Styling

Alfa Romeo is credited with building some of the most visually-appealing road and race cars ever created, and while the following concept isn’t an official project, it does fall in line with the marque’s rich design history.

This particular concept is the brainchild of Luigi Memola and is dubbed the LEA, which stands for Linea Emozionante Aerodinamica. It is a low-slung, two-door sports car with an evocative design that beautifully combines retro-inspired elements with more modern components.

The side of the concept is perhaps its best angle. The front end features a pointed nose with a pair of round headlights. A set of unusual, solid wheels force you to look towards the bodywork where you’ll notice small doors and tapered side windows seamlessly connected to the windshield. The side angle also provides a glimpse of the rear louvers and spoiler.

At the rear, the LEA features a number of exposed carbon fiber components as well as a heap of mesh. There are also quad tailpipes and a couple of sci-fi-looking taillights not affixed to the body. Perhaps they’re meant to be holograms. Whatever the case, they’re certainly intriguing.

Other parts of the vehicle’s design that stand out are the thin, vertical headlights, circular fog lights, carbon fiber chin spoiler and a small Alfa Romeo grille. The hood also incorporates a large air extractor and there are small, aerodynamically shaped cameras in place of traditional wing mirrors.

Alfa Romeo’s next supercar will be a successor to the 8C Competizione with a mid-engine layout. While we gather that it’ll look nothing like this rendering, given Alfa’s recent record, we do expect it to be a stunningly-styled machine.
