JD(S) meets on Kundgol candidate

Hubballi: JD(S) leaders have decided to seek the party high-command’s opinion on fielding a candidate for the byelection for Kundgol assembly segment to held on May 19.
Party leaders including MLC Basavaraj Horatti, former MLA N H Konaraddi held a meeting with party workers in Kundgol on Saturday. They considered recomending the names of former Kundgol MLA Mallikarjun Akki or Hazratali Doddamani to party supremo H D Deve Gowda, CM H D Kumaraswamy and party state unit president H Vishwanath, said Konaraddi.
“Congress has decided to field Shivalli’s wife Kusuma from Kundgol and JD(S) and Congress will abide by the decision of the co-ordination committee,” he added.
“Since both the parties are in a coalition, the thinking was Chincholi seat would be left to Congress and JD(S) would get to contest from Kundgol. Our party workers have also agreed to abide by the decision the party high command takes,” said Konaraddi.
