It strayed into Kathimanu Palle from the reserve forest

Villagers of Kathimanu Palle village of Kuppam mandal on Saturday morning rescued a deer from a pack of dogs when it strayed into the village.

The timely intervention of the villagers earned them the appreciation of the Forest Department.

A spotted deer from the Noolukunta beat of Kangudundi reserve forest reportedly strayed into the village and was loitering close to a habitation when it was chased by stray dogs. A dozen canines surrounded the deer, and were about to attack when villagers rushed to the defence of the helpless animal.

After shooing the dogs away, the villagers took the deer to a safe place and informed the Forest Department. Forest officials rushed to the spot and examined the animal that suffered minor bruises. Forest Range Officer (Kuppam) Kalappa Naidu said the animal would be released into the reserve forest after observation.
