Nagpur: The magic of music scored by Salil Chowdhury and
OP Nayyar for films, many of which broke records at the box office, was recreated at a programme organized by Sargam Events at Sai Sabhagruh, Shankar Nagar, on Saturday.
The programme, ‘Hits of
Salil Da and OP Nayyar’, took the audience on a musical journey of the two legends in which they composed memorable songs that continue to charm even today.
The programme began with ‘Suhana safar,’ followed by retro singles like ‘Dil ki awaj’, ‘Mera naam chin chin choo,’ ‘Toote huye khwabon ne’, ‘Aap ke hasin’, ‘Jara haule haule’, ‘Tarif karu,’ ‘Lakho hai nigah mein,’, ‘Jawani ya ye mast mast’, ‘Aake seedhi’, ‘Tu auron kyon ho gayi,’ ‘Babuji dheere chalna’, ‘Surma mera nirala’ and ‘Kisi na kisi se.’
These songs presented by Raju Tandle, Hemant Darvekar, Uma Raghuraman, Gopal Iyer, Nandu Andhare, Rashmi Kolhe, MV Unnikrishnan, Sakshi Sahu, Isabul Hassan, Yogesh Thakkar, Smita Deshmukh, Arvind Uprit, Vijay Ramteke, Poornima Joshi and Manish Nair left a lasting impact on the audience.
Music lovers tapped their feet as duets like ‘Main Bangali chhokara’ by Darvekar and Uma, ‘Jane mann jane mann’ by Unnikrishnan and Sakshi, ‘Ja re ud ja re panchhi’ by Thakkar and Smita, ‘Aap yun hi agar’ by Gopal and Uma, ‘Isharon isharon mein’ by Isabul and Uma, ‘Dil tadap tadap ke keh raha’ by Raju and Smita, ‘Ek pardesi mera’ by Arvind and Poornima, ‘Diwana hua badal’ by Raju and Smita, ‘Kajra mohobbat wala’ by Uma and Rashmi and ‘Balle balle’ by Isabul and Smita were presented.
The programme was conceptualized by MV Unnikrishnan. Pushpa Anand was the anchor.
