Warud BDO among 2 killed in mishap

Amravati: A block development officer (BDO) of Warud Panchayat Samiti and a rural development officer (RDO) of Pusla village near Warud died on the spot in a road mishap near Wadura intersection on Chandur Bazar-Walgaon road on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as RDO Pralhad Pundlik Mankar, 55, a resident of Arjun Nagar and the BDO Vijay Rathod, 45. The duo had gone to Redura village for inspecting a well under construction at Rathod’s farm.

Amravati SP (Rural), Dilip Zalke told TOI that the deceased were coming to Amravati in a car (MH 27-BV 5081) which had a head-on collision with a tipper (MH27-BX 2500) at around 1.30pm. The car got badly mangled due to the impact, leaving the duo dead on the spot. Former ZP president Surekhatai Thakare and others rushed to the spot to help the duo but in vain.
Zalke said the tipper driver Abdul Rahim Abdul Rashid, a resident of Lalkhadi in Amravati, drove his vehicle to Chandur Bazar police station and surrendered before the cops.
