A 50-year-old contractor, Manjunath Iyengar, hailing from Chintamani in Karnataka died on the spot when his car collided head-on with a lorry at Pamidi in Anantapur district on Sunday.
Pamidi Sub-Inspector of Police said Mr. Manjunath’s son, daughter and driver were admitted to the Government General Hospital in Anantapur with injuries.
The accident occurred on National Highway No: 44 at 7.30 a.m. The car was heading towards Hyderabad when it crossed the median and hit the lorry coming in the opposite direction. The police suspect that the passengers were sleeping and that the driver might have dozed off.
