JAIPUR: A 35-year-old man in Chittorgarh allegedly poisoned his wife and daughter before committing suicide. The bodies of the couple and their daughter were found outside their house. Police are still trying to ascertain the reason behind the
suicide and the killings though initial inquiry suggests that the man was suffering from mental illness due to which he decided to take this step.
The victims have been identified as Kishanlal Banjara, his 30-year-old wife Manju and their 3-year-old daughter.
According to the police, the incident took place Chanderiya in
Chittorgarh district on Friday night and the bodies were found by the other family members on Saturday morning.
Anil Joshi, SHO, Chanderiya police station told TOI, “Kishanlal worked as a labourer in another part of the district and had come home just a week back. Preliminary investigation does not suggest that he had any financial troubles. He was staying in his brother’s house.”
The post-mortem of the deceased was conducted on Saturday and initial medical examination suggested that Kishanlal gave some poisonous substance to his wife and daughter before consuming the same himself, claimed the officials.
“Possibly, he mixed pesticide/insecticide in the food and gave to his family. Through sources, it was revealed that he was suffering from a mental ailment which appears to be reason behind the suicide and the killings. We are investigating it as a case of death under suspicious circumstances,” added the SHO.
A case under Section 174 (suicide) of CrPC has been registered.
