High alert in Kashi, checking drives at rly stns, ghats

Varanasi: Prominent sites of major public gathering witnessed massive checking drives carried out by the police on Saturday night after a high alert sounded by intelligence agencies.
Apart from the policemen with metal detectors, dog and bomb disposal squads also looked in action at almost all places of witnessing heavy crwod like railway stations, bus stands, ghats along river Ganga, especially Rajendra Prasad Ghat and markets. The police checked each and every point of these places and also frisked people present there.
Regarding the drive, SP City Dinesh Kumar Singh said that the drive was carried out to check alertness of the police and other squads and agencies concerned. The officials denied of any specific input behind the checking drive.
