HYDERABAD: Eight persons including two brothers were nabbed by city cops for stealing a bus belonging to the Telangana State Road
Transport Corporation (
TSRTC) from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) on Wednesday.
The accused, Syed Abed and his brother Syed Zehad, both residents of Chilakulaguda, stole the bus from the depot at 12.03am on April 24 after it was parked at 11.30pm the previous night.
The duo sold the bus to Mohammed Naweed, and Farooq, who runs a scrap business in Nanded district,
Maharashtra, while other offenders, Zubair, Omer, Salman, Shafiq and Kaleem Bagwan work for them.
The bus was taken to their workshop in Nanded, while it broke down, near Bokar, which is 60km away from Nanded.
"The bus was dismantled when our team reached there, however, the parts of the stolen RTC bus were found intact," said ACP
Sultan Bazar, P Devender.
Police seized all the parts of the vehicle, including Chasis, body of the bus with engine, seats, gas cutting cylinders with gas cutter pipes along with Rs 19,500 cash from their possession.
According to police, accused brother, Abed and Zehad together were involved in seven house burglary cases last year, while, Abed alone was involved in nine theft cases from 2015 till 2018.
