AMBALA: On the last of withdrawing nominations, a total of 18 candidates are in fray of contesting
Lok Sabha elections at Ambala (reserved) seat and none of those candidates whose papers were accepted have withdrawn their nominations on Friday, April 23, which was the last day for withdrawing nominations.
Ambala district election officer (DEO) Sharandeep Kaur Brar informed that the process of allotting the symbols has been completed and 18 candidates are in fray of contesting the elections.
As per the Chief Election Officer, Haryana website, a total of 33 affidavits were filed by candidates during the nomination process of which 15 have been rejected and 18 have been selected by the DEO. Of these 18 candidates, 5 are independent while 13 belong to registered and registered unrecognized political parties.
On the day of scrutiny i.e. on April 24, five affidavits were rejected by Ambala DEO as they had filed papers as back-up candidates of their party’s nominated ones.
DEO Brar informed all the recognised national and state party candidates have been allotted the symbols of their respective parties, while the unrecognised ones have been allotted the symbols from those prescribed by the
Election Commission of India and similar procedure has been followed in the cases of independent candidates.
As per the ground report, the main candidates in fray of Ambala (reserved) Lok Sabha seats are Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rattan Lal Kataria who is also a sitting Member Parliament from same seat, Kumari Selja of Congress party, Prithvi Raj Singh of Aam Aadmi Party contesting with alliance support of Jannayak Janata Party, Indian National Lok Dal’s Rampal Balmiki, and Bahujan Samaj Party’s Naresh Saran contesting with alliance support of Loktanter Suraksha Party.
